Three levels. The government pays most of the fee.

- The Ministry of MSME pays 80% of the fee for micro, 60% for small and 50% for medium enterprises.
- It pays 10% more for units owned by SC or ST entrepreneurs, and for units in the North East, Himalayan, LWE, island and aspirational districts. Since November 2023, women-owned MSMEs get the full fee covered.
- After you take the ZED Pledge, you get a ₹10,000 joining reward, which can be used only against the assessment fee.
- A certificate is valid for 3 years.
- A 10% concession on the CGTMSE guarantee fee for ZED-certified micro and small enterprises, if you take a loan without collateral.
- Concessions on processing fees or interest at several banks. Each bank sets its own terms, often by level.
- Once you are in the scheme, support of up to 75% of the cost of one system certification (such as ISO 9001) from an NABCB-accredited body, up to ₹50,000.
- A recognised quality badge to show buyers and in tenders.

Need ISO 9001 instead, or as well?
Some buyers and tenders ask for ISO 9001 by name, and it is open to services businesses too. We set up the quality system with your team: the processes, the records and an internal check. A certification body you choose does the audit and issues the certificate; its fee is paid at cost.
The first call is free. Registering on the ZED portal and taking the pledge cost nothing.
UGrowth is not a certification body and does not issue certificates. Assessment is done under QCI by accredited agencies, and they decide the result.
Who can apply for ZED certification?
Manufacturing MSMEs registered on Udyam. ZED is voluntary; the government does not make it compulsory.
I run a services business. Can I get ZED?
Not yet: the scheme covers manufacturing MSMEs today. ISO 9001 is open to services businesses.
Does UGrowth issue the certificate?
No. Assessment is done under the Quality Council of India by accredited agencies. We check your gaps, prepare the papers and help you apply. We never promise a certificate or a level.
